Getting started with Copilot in Power BI mobile app: From generating summaries to insights and more
Using Copilot in Power BI Mobile to generate summaries and insights is a straightforward process designed to save you time and enhance your data-driven decisions. With just a few taps, you can access AI-powered insights directly from your reports.
Follow these simple steps to get started.
Step 1: Open the report and access copilot
- Open the report you want to analyze and tap the Copilot icon located in the report header.
- Ensure the report meets the Copilot for Power BI requirements; if the Copilot icon doesn’t appear, the report may not qualify.
- Apply any filters or slicers to the report before tapping the Copilot button, as Copilot works with the current state of the report.
Step 2: Choose a prompt
- In the chat window that opens, select the prompt that best suits your needs for generating summaries and insights.
- Copilot will generate its response, which you can view in the chat window.
- If needed, enlarge the chat window to see more of the response.
Step 3: Return to the report
- To return to the report, close the chat window by tapping the X at the top of the window.
- The chat history remains intact until the report is refreshed or closed, allowing you to revisit all prompts and responses by tapping the Copilot button again.

Step 4: Explore the Copilot’s results
- Copilot’s response includes references to visuals it used to generate the insights. Tap any reference to view the associated visual, which is interactive.
- Dive deeper into visuals by long-tapping for tooltips, or drilling down or up.
- To see all references in one place, tap the References link at the bottom of the response for a hyperlinked list.
Step 5: Refine the response with suggested prompts
- If you want to modify or refine Copilot’s response, tap one of the suggested prompts at the bottom of the chat window.
- For additional suggestions, tap the refresh button next to the prompt options.
Step 6: Share Copilot’s results
- To share Copilot’s response, tap the Copy icon at the top of the response.
- The response will be copied to your clipboard, allowing you to paste it into an email, Teams chat, or other platforms.
- The copied response includes a link to the report for easy reference by recipients.
